SC declares nat\\\'l anthem\\\'s ringtone use illegal

The Appellate division of the Supreme Court (SC) Monday upheld the High Court order that earlier declared illegal the use of the national anthem as ringtone or welcome tune in cellphones. The court also asked the authorities concerned of Grameenphone and Orascom Telecom Bangladesh Ltd (Banglalink) each to donate Tk 3.0 million to two charitable organisations each for using the national anthem commercially in cellphones. — UNB
