SC hears appeal against HC order on Tarique's tax evasion
Tuesday, 19 August 2008
The Appellate Division will hear on August 27 a state plea seeking halt to a previous High Court (HC) order, which had stayed tax evasion case proceedings against BNP leader Tarique Rahman, reports UNB.
The date was determined after Chamber Court of Justice MA Matin Monday passed the order, putting a deaf ear to the plea by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for freezing the HC order.
The revenue agency moved the application as it prefers "leave-to-appeal" against the HC orders.
