The Supreme Court (SC) has stayed the High Court's (HC) order that granted bail to former state minister for Civil Aviation Mahbub Ali in Siam Sarder case filled with Mirpur police station in the capital, reports BSS.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division led by Senior Justice Ashfaqul Islam also directed the High Court to dispose of the rule regarding his (Mahbub) bail.
The bench this morning passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the state challenging the High Court's order.
Senior Lawyer SM Shahjahan stood for Mahbub Ali in the court while Additional Attorney General Abdul Jobbar Bhuiyan and Deputy Attorney General Jahirul Islam Sumon argued for the state.
