SC stays ex-BTCL MD\\\'s jail

The Supreme Court (SC) stayed Tuesday a High Court (HC) order sentencing former managing director (MD) of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Ltd (BTCL) SOM Kalimullah to four months' imprisonment for contempt of court charge, reports UNB.
Passing the order, Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foez Siddique also granted a bail for eight weeks to the former BTCL boss. On December 4, the HC sentenced Kalimullah to four months' simple imprisonment for contempt of court. He was also fined Tk 0.1 million in default, to suffer simple imprisonment for another month.
