SC stays HC bail to Naser Rahman

The Supreme Court (SC) Wednesday stayed for a month the operation of a High Court (HC) order that had granted interim bail to convicted former BNP lawmaker Naser Rahman in an ill-gotten wealth case, reports UNB.
Chamber judge of the SC Justice MA Matin passed the orders.
On November 12, the High Court granted bail for three months to Naser Rahman on a pending appeal against his conviction.
On March 31, a special court at parliament building complex that deals with corruption cases, sentenced Naser, son of former finance minister M Saifur Rahman, to 13 years' rigorous imprisonment for amassing wealth illegally and concealing information about his actual wealth.
