SC stays HC ruling unseating MP Kashem

Friday, 18 December 2009

The Supreme Court (SC) Thursday stayed for six weeks the operation of the High Court (HC) ruling that declared void the nomination of Jatiya Party MP Abul Kashem for the ninth parliamentary elections on grounds of his being bank loan and telephone bill defaulter. The Representation of People Order (RPO) bars a loan defaulter from filing nomination paper for standing in national elections. — UNB
