SC upholds bails of 3 ex-ministers

Tuesday, 21 October 2008

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) Monday overturned its Chamber Judge's stay orders upholding the High Court (HC) orders that had granted bails to three bigwig politicians facing corruption charges, reports UNB.
Passing the orders, the Appellate Division, however, cleared the way for the stalled trial proceedings against them-former ministers Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Altaf Hossain Chowdhury of BNP and former state minister and Awami League presidium member Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir.
The apex court orders came following separate leave-to-appeal petitions against the HC interim orders filed by the Anti-corruption Commission.
