Tuesday, 7 October 2008
The Chamber Judge of the Supreme Court (SC) Monday turned down the government and Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) pleas, upholding the High Court (HC) orders that had granted bails to a number of bigwig corrupt suspects. The corrupt suspects are former ministers Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas and Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, ex-MP Mosaddek Ali Falu, ex-MP Mirza Azam, who is already released, and businessmen Gias Uddin Al Mamun and Giridhari Lal Modi. After brief hearings on the pleas, Justice M Joynul Abedin advised the petitioners to file regular appeals against the HC orders. — UNB
