Tuesday, 18 August 2015

The Appellate Division (AD) of the Supreme Court (SC) upheld on Monday the High Court (HC) order that granted bail to BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Asifa Ashrafi Papiya in separate sabotage cases, report UNB.
A three-member bench of the AD, headed by Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, passed the order in a hearing on the government's plea against the HC order granting interim bail to Rizvi and Papiya for 'street violence'.
The apex court, however, stayed the interim bail granted to Rizvi by the HC in two cases, Rizvi's Lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon told reporters after the hearing.
Advocate Joynul Abedin and Advocate Sagir Hossain Leon stood for the BNP leaders.
Earlier on August 06, the AD of the SC upheld the HC order that granted six months' interim bail to BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in five cases.
On July 7, the HC granted the bail to Rizvi in eight cases filed against him.
