The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Tuesday demanded the resignation of ex-chief justice ABM Khairul Haque as the chairman of Law Commission (LC), a statutory body, for his remark terming the Law Minister as the guardian of the judiciary. Addressing a press conference, SCBA president AJ Mohammad Ali alleged that on Saturday Justice Haque at a function at Judicial Administrative Training Institute (Jati) called the Law Minister as the guardian of the judiciary which amounts to disparaging the Constitution. By making such remark that amounts to obliteration of the judiciary, Justice Haque has lost his moral right to hold the LC chairmanship, said the apex court bar leader. Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, secretary SCBA was present at the press conference held at its hall room, according to a news agency.
