The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has reiterated the demand that the petitions seeking pre-arrest bail be entertained, or else, it warned there will be dire consequences. The SCBA also demanded measures to put an end to alleged corruption and bribery of the staff and officers at the highest judiciary. The demand came at a special general meeting of the SCBA in the city. The SCBA leaders said the pre-arrest bail pleas must be entertained by the High Court not only in the interest of the lawyers but also for the ends of justice. SCBA President Khandker Mahbub Hossain, also an adviser to BNP chief Khaleda Zia, chaired the meeting, according to a news agency.
