SCC sacks 431 for illegal appointment

The Caretaker Government ordered that 431 officers and employees of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) be sacked on grounds that they were appointed "illegally". An official announcement Sunday said, "The termination decision was taken, as allegations of irregularities in their appointment were proved following an investigation, conducted by Sylhet Divisional Commissioner." In the big band of the SCC members of staff who got their marching orders are one first-class officer, while 15 second-class, 222 third-class and 193 fourth-class employees. — UNB
