SCF, BMRS, BMA demand quick trial of war criminals

RANGPUR, Aug 8 (BSS): Leaders of the Sector Commanders' Forum (SCF) and Rangpur Command of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Rehabilitation Society (BMRS) demanded immediate and transparent trials of the war criminals for freeing the nation from the unbearable stigma and ensuring a safer Bangladesh.
They called upon all concerned for identifying all war criminals, 'razakars', 'al-badars', 'al-shams' and 'collaborators' of the Pakistani occupation forces throughout the country and unveil their inhuman crimes committed against unarmed Bangalis in 1971.
The leaders formed a human chain and held a discussion on the premises of Press Club of the district town.
Rangpur district unit SCF organised the function as part of the national programme Saturday.
Rangpur district SCF coordinator and advisor of the district Command of BMRS Mozaffar Hossain Chand presided over the meeting.
FFs Kamal Hossain Dilip, Jalal Uddin Ahmed, Sirajul Islam, Hemendranath Deb Bablu, Badal Rahman, Sheikh Azizar Rahman, Dr Nazrul Islam, Abdul Hakim, Dr Saiful Islam and Birangona Sweaty Akhter Putul took part on the occasion.
The programme was addressed by Masud Rana, Md Dudu, Enamul Haque, Shamsul Haque, Shahnaz Begum, Mohsin Ali, Zarip Uddin and Ruhul Amin.
Meanwhile, Rajshahi unit of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) formed a human chain Sunday demanding speedy trial of war criminals and revival of the 1972 constitution.
Teachers, students, nurses, officials and employees of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital and other members of the BMA took part in the programme staged in front of the medical college.
BMA local unit President Prof Dr ABM Abdul Hannan, vice-president Prof Dr Dayem Uddin, Secretary Dr Mohibul Hassan, members Dr Syed Shafiqul Alam and Dr Shamiul Islam and central committee member Dr Sheikh Tabibur Rahman addressed programme, among others.
The speakers said that the trial of the war criminals could help free the nation from the long-standing social stigma along with proper implementation of the spirit of the liberation war.
