School banking

I was astonished to read in last Wednesday's newspapers that government has advised the bankers to commence school banking to encourage students to build a habit of saving and learn discipline.
I recollect, years back in late 1950s when I was a teenager and student of St. Placid's High School Chittagong I participated in "School Banking Class". I verified this from another classmate of yester years, Mr. Noel Mendes.
I request, through this column, the authorities concerned to update themselves on the above programme of over 50 years and conduct their new programme appropriately.
