Schoolboy drowns in river in Mymensingh

A schoolboy drowned as a boat sank in the Kharia River at Chhotoshunoi village in Fulpur upazila of Mymensingh district on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Uzzal Miah, 10, son of Helal Uddin of the village. Witnesses said a boat carrying Uzzal and his father sank in the middle of the river while they were going to a relative’s house at about 1:00 pm. Later, locals rescued Uzzal and took him to the upazila health complex where attending doctors declared him dead, according to a news agency.
