Police have recovered the decomposed body of an abducted schoolboy from Chittagong’s Patiya. The deceased has been identified as Ashraf Hossain Apu, a Grade X student of Patiya High School. Police recovered the body from a poultry farm near Shah Amanat Filling Station in Nayahat area around 3.30am on Monday. The body was covered with sand and mud, Chittagong District Assistant Superintendent of Police (Patiya circle) Shamim Hossain said. Miscreants abducted Apu from a wedding party in Patiya Sadar on Jan 19 and demanded ransom of Tk 10 million from his family. The abductors later agreed to free Apu for Tk 1 million, but they did not come to take the money. Police, helped by Apu’s family, raided different locations to nab the abductors, the ASP said. The abductors were supposed to come to Nayahat to take the money but did not turn up. Police went to the poultry farm following a tip-off and recovered the body, according to bdnews24.com.
