Friday, 5 July 2013
A schoolboy was strangulated to death in his bedroom at the city's Kalachandpur under Gulshan thana Thursday, reports UNB.
The victim was identified as Tilak Palma (14) son of Komol Patrick Palma, and a student of class IX of Kalachandpur School and College.
Police quoting family members of the victim said Tilak's father Komal Patrick Palma, store keeper of British High Commission, and mother Nirmola Rita Palma, a schoolteacher, went out of their Kalachandpur residence in the morning for their respective workplaces. Tilak's elder brother also went to his coaching centre.
When Rita returned home around 11:00 am, she found the main door of the house locked from inside. She knocked several times on the door but did not get any response from inside, police said.
Later, she unlocked the door from outside, entered the house and found Tilak lying on the bed and did not get any response from him when she tried to wake him up.
Later, Tilak was taken to a local hospital and then United Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead around noon.
