Schoolgirl drowns in Goalanda

A schoolgirl drowned in a ditch at Doulatdia at Goalanda upazila on Monday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Poly Begum, 12, student of Probhati Kindergarten and daughter of Pannu Sheikh of Daulatdia. Locals said Poly fell down into the ditch beside the house of union parishad chairman Nurul Islam Mondal in the afternoon and drowned. Locals rescued and whisked her to the upazila health complex. Later, with her condition deteriorating, she was shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead, according to UNB.
