Schoolgirl found hanged in Jessore

Police recovered the hanging body of a schoolgirl at Navaron More at Sarsa upazila in Jessore district on Tuesday night. The deceased Sumi Khatun, 14, a class-X student of Navaron Burujbagan Girls High School and daughter of Malaysia expatriate Jahangir Hossain, a resident of Khaskhali village of Jhikargachha upazila, used to live in a rented residence at Navaron More along with her mother. Locals found the body of Sumi hanging from the ceiling of her residence and informed police. Police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Ahmed Kabir, officer-in-charge of Sarsa Police Station, said it would be clear after getting the post-mortem report whether it was an incident of suicide or homicide, according to UNB.
