Schoolteacher gets life for raping girl

A tribunal in Jessore on Wednesday sentenced a schoolteacher to life term imprisonment for violating a schoolgirl at Sharsha upazila in Jessore district 10 years ago. The convict was identified as Rejaul Islam Mukul, a teacher of Baikun Government Primary School and son of Moyen Uddin of Kaiba village of the upazila. According to the prosecution, Mukul used to tutor the Class IX girl privately and violated her on November 7, 2004. Later, the victim filed a case against Mukul with Sharsha Police Station. After examining documents, Judge of Jessore Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal SM Abdus Salam pronounced the verdict, according to UNB.
