Scope of boosting Dhaka-Yunan trade, cultural ties seen wider

CHITTAGONG, Dec 01: Lu Beng Jeng, Vice-Chairman of the Yunan Provincial People's Congress, said here Friday that wide-ranging possibilities were there to enhance trading, educational, cultural and tourism relations between Bangladesh and Yunan Province of China because of their convenient geographical location.
He was exchanging views with the Board of Directors of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) at Chamber House auditorium yesterday.
CCCI President Saifuzzaman Chowdhury presided over the function while Vice President Mahbub Alam gave the vote of thanks.
Lu Beng Jeng who led a 9-member high-powered delegation assured Bangladesh of providing allout co-operation in its development and prosperity.
Describing Bangladesh as a country of unbounded potentialities, the visiting Yunan Provincial People's Congress Vice-Chairman expressed the desire to work with CCCI and stressed on enhancing co-operation between Chittagong and Kunming.
Greeting the visiting delegation CCCI President said, through prolonged growth in the Chinese economy for long two decades, China has now emerged as an economic giant in the world. He called upon the delegation to help expand Chinese assistance towards the economic growth of Bangladesh.
CCCI Chief also urged the delegation to take initiative to participate in the upcoming CITF '08, arranged by the CCCI, as a partner country of the event.
