Scrap Jamaat leaders' candidacies, demand FFs' children

Monday, 24 December 2018

An organisation of freedom fighters' children on Sunday demanded that the Election Commission scrap the candidacies of 25 Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, reports UNB.
'Amra Muktijoddhar Sontan' formed a human chain on the Nirbachan Bhaban premises around noon to press home their demand.
The organisation's chief Humayun Kabir said they had filed a writ petition with the High Court Division. "The court may give an order in this regard today," he said.
The ruling Awami League, 'Gaurab 71' and 'Projonmo 71' have also been demanding cancellation of the Jamaat leaders' candidacies.
Twenty-two Jamaat leaders are contesting the December 30 election with BNP's electoral symbol while three others are participating as independents.
