Scrap unnecessary a2i projects: Adviser

ICT Adviser Nahid Islam has instructed the officials to scrap unnecessary projects under the 'Aspire to Innovate (a2i)' initiative, a special programme taken during the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
He also said that several investigation committees have been formed to look into the irregularities and corruption that has taken place under the a2i, as well as that the investigation process should be impartial and transparent.
Mr Islam said this while visiting the headquarters of a2i located at the ICT Tower in the city's Agargaon on Wednesday, according to a statement.
Referring to the recent movement led by students that toppled the government, he said: "We gained a new Bangladesh at the cost of blood of students and mass people. We have to work showing respect to their blood."
The adviser also urged the officials to be sincere so that no complaints with the a2i activities arise.
The adviser also said that the benefits of the initiatives taken by the a2i should reach the people.
The youths of Bangladesh will be involved in the information technology sector, he said, adding that an advisory committee will be formed with the Bangladeshi IT experts working abroad.
During the discussion, young entrepreneurs talked about different issues.
Senior officials of a2i were present during the discussion.
