SDC to provide $200,000 for Aila affected people

The Swiss agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) will contribute US$ 200,000 to a multi donor project for ensuring food security, improved nutrition status and reduced poverty of marginalised households in the Aila affected areas through boosting livestock production, reports UNB.
The project is also aimed at developing capacity of the people regarding poultry feeding and disease control, vaccination and essentially creating employment and income generation opportunities for the people.
A total of 100 families, headed by women, will receive the assistance.
The SDC contribution will be channeled through food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations to complement the livelihood support activities funded by the organisation.
The Department of Livestock Service of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock will provide technical support to the implementing agencies.
