The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has reconstituted its advisory committee to seek market-friendly suggestions on developing the country's stock market. According to a notification of SEC issued Tuesday, the terms of reference of the body will be to propose appropriate policy options for developing the stock market, advise on policies and programmes to protect the interest of investors and to advise on any other matter as may be referred to by SEC. The advisory committee members are chairman of SEC, all members of SEC, one representative of Bank and Financial Institution Division (Ministry of Finance), one deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank, president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, president of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh, president of Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies, president of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh, presidents of Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange, chairman of Central Depository Bangladesh Ltd, Mustafizur Rahman of Centre for Policy Dialogue, managing director of Investment Corporation of Bangladesh, chairman of Bangladesh Association of Banks, chairman of Bangladesh Insurance Association, Zaidi Sattar of Policy Research Institute and Moazzem Hossain of Financial Express. The chairman of SEC will act as convenor of the committee.
