Second CIRDAP ministerial meet from today

The second ministerial meeting on Rural Development in Asia and the Pacific is going to begin in the capital today (Sunday).
Rural development ministers and/or their representatives from all 14 CIRDAP member countries are expected to join in the five-day long meeting, hosted by the government of Bangladesh with the support from the government of Japan.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the main event - Ministerial Meeting - on January 27, 2010.
The theme of the high-profile meeting is 'Working Together for Sustainable Rural Development,' Director General of Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) Dr Durga P Paudyal said at a press conference in the city Saturday.
He was speaking at the media briefing, organised to make announcements about the upcoming ministerial meeting and evaluate CIRDAP's performance over the last couple of years.
"The second ministerial meeting is being organised to provide guidance and direction to the new mandate for CIRDAP," Mr Paudyal said.
CIRDAP member countries are - Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Thailand, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.
