Secretariat bomb blast: Charge hearing deferred until June 16

A Dhaka court on Thursday deferred until June 16 the hearing on charge framing against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 28 others in connection with a bomb blast case. Dhaka Special Tribunal-5 Judge A H M Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan passed the order upon a petition submitted by the defence counsel seeking time. Several BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Amanullah Aman, appeared before the court today. Shahbagh police filed the case against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam and other leaders of the party in connection with the bombings inside the Secretariat in the city during the opposition-called countrywide hartal (shutdown) on April 29, 2012. DB police submitted charge-sheet against them on May 31, 2012, according to UNB.
