Section 144 imposed

LALMONIRHAT, July 26 (UNB): Section 144 has been imposed at Chaparhat under Kaliganj Upazila in apprehension of clash between Awami League and BNP who convened public meetings at the same venue at the same time.
Local BNP called for the meeting at the Chaparhat High School ground Sunday afternoon on the occasion of joining of newcomers to the party. Former Deputy Minister Asadul Habib Dulu was scheduled to welcome the newcomers.
Later, Awami League also called for a meeting at the same place and at the same time raising tension and apprehension of clash between the two rival parties.
The administration imposed restriction on public gathering in the area to ward off conflict. Riot gear police was deployed at the school ground.
