Section 144 imposed in Khagrachhari

KHAGRACHHARI: The local administration has imposed Section 144 in Mahalchhari upazila and Kamalchhari of Sadar upazila following a fresh clash between Pahari and Bangalee settlers over the murder of Sabita Chakma in Sadar upazila Wednesday.
The restriction will remain in force from 4pm Wednesday until February 28 midnight.
Locals said the fresh clash ensued at Betchhari Christianpara in the morning when some youths belonging to the Bangalee community went there in search of a youth who allegedly went missing Tuesday.
Chases and counter-chases took place between the two groups during the melee that left eight people injured.
On information, police, members of Border Guard Bangladesh and army rushed in and brought the situation under control, according to a news agency.
