Section 144 imposed in Rangpur

Section 144 was imposed in and around the Public Library in Rangpur city on Saturday as two groups of Jatiya Party (JP) called their meetings at the same place and time on the day. The newly-formed district and city unit committees of JP called a meeting on the Public Library ground at 11.00am. Sources said the defunct committee also called a rally at the same place and time. The local administration imposed the emergency section in and around the venue from 6.00am to 6.00pm apparently to avoid untoward incidents, according to a news agency.
