Section of primary teachers threaten shutdown amid annual exams

Another group of teachers have been observing work abstention

A section of government primary schoolteachers on Tuesday announced to go for a shutdown programme from tomorrow (Thursday) if their three-point demands were not realised by today (Wednesday).
Convener of Assistant Teachers Oikkya Parishad (Unity Council) Md Anisur Rahman made the announcement on Tuesday in the capital.
Annual examinations at government primary schools were scheduled to start from Monday.
Another group of government primary schools teachers have been observing work abstention for realising their three point-demand, including for the 11th grade pay scale.
They are observing the programme under the banner of "Primary Teachers Demands Implementation Council".
The leaders of the council said their ongoing programme to boycott annual examinations will continue as there was no sign of development in meeting their demands.
The teachers, during a virtual meeting, also decided to shut all the government primary schools down from tomorrow (Thursday) if their three-point demands were are not realised by today (Wednesday).
They called upon the government primary schools headmasters and assistant teachers to join their ongoing programme and help realise their three-point demand.
Meanwhile, due to the ongoing strike of the teachers, the annual examinations were not held at most of the government high schools in the capital and other parts of the country on Tuesday.
The students who went to the schools could not sit for exams on Tuesday. But annual examinations were held on Tuesday at some high schools.
