Sector commander of the liberation war Hamidullah Khan died in the capital Friday at the age of 74, reports bdnews24.com. A Bir Protik gallantry awardee, Khan is survived by his wife and two sons. His daughter-in-law Raisa Wali Khan Friday told the news agency that Khan, a former BNP lawmaker, had been taken to the Combined Military Hospital around 8:30am with high blood pressure. The freedom fighter died around 2:30pm at the hospital, she said. His body was taken to his Dhaka Cantonment home in the afternoon. His first namaj-e-janaza would be held at 10am Saturday at the Cantonment Allama Mosque and a second one is scheduled for 11:30am in front of the BNP's Naya Paltan headquarters. Khan took the lead of Sector-11 during the liberation war after the previous sector commander, Col Abu Taher, got injured.
