Sunday, 24 August 2014

Claiming that her government has reestablished the Liberation War spirit with the 15th amendment to the constitution, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sunday said it is not possible to truly establish a secular and non-communal society without protecting democracy, according to a news agency.
“It’s not possible to establish secular and non-communal spirit in a country without protecting its democracy,” she said.
The Prime Minister came up with the remarks when leaders of Janmashtami Udjapan Parishad, Bangladesh, Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Mohanagar Puja Udjapan Parishad met her at her official residence Ganabhaban on the occasion of Janmashtami.
Sheikh Hasina also said it is not possible to ensure the rights of the people of all religions in the country without having uninterrupted democracy.
With the 15th amendment, she said, the capital punishment has been ensured for those who will grab power violating the constitution. “We’ve done this to ensure uninterrupted democracy in the country.”
The Prime Minister also said it is not possible to take the country forward economically without democracy.
Listing her government’s various steps for ensuring the equal rights for the people of all faiths and religions, Hasina said Bangladesh is for all. “You’ll live in this country enjoying your rights, this is your country.”
