Friday, 28 December 2007

The authorities put Dhaka city on high security alert following assassination of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Banazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi Thursday evening. Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Naim Ahmed said security has been beefed up in the capital including diplomatic enclaves of Gulshan following the killing of Benazir. Law enforcing agencies were asked to keep strict vigil in stranded Pakistani camps throughout the country particularly in Mirpur and Mohammadpur in Dhaka, a senior police official said. — UNB
