Security dialogue with US begins

The US-Bangladesh security dialogue began in Dhaka on Tuesday. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Tom Kelly of the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs is leading the US delegation while Secretary (Bilateral) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mustafa Kamal is leading Bangladesh side in the third-round of such dialogue. According to the US embassy, the dialogue would include discussions on maritime security, counter-terrorism, disaster risk management, peacekeeping, law enforcement, non-proliferation, joint military exercises and exchanges, and other security issues. It said the dialogue reflects “our growing defense relationship with Bangladesh and our shared commitment to peace and prosperity in the region”. The first security dialogue was held in Dhaka on April 19, 2012, while the second in Washington in April, 2013, according to bdnews24.com.
