Security of NID data centre sought

Tuesday, 17 June 2014

Independent MP Rustom Ali Faraji on Tuesday sought the Prime Minister’s intervention in ensuring the security of the data centre of the National Identity Card (NID) and the citizens’ personal information. Standing on point of order at the very beginning of the day's business in parliament, Faraji said the national security will be at stake if the data centre is kept under the control of project officer or under the contracting farm, Tiger IT. As per the contract, he said, Tiger IT was supposed to train the EC officials and engineers before handing over the data centre to the commission. “But they neither trained the EC officials and engineers and nor handed over the data centre,” according to a news agency.
