Sedated auto driver dies at JMCH

A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver, who fell unconscious after taking tea, suspected to be mixed with sedative, at a tea stall on the Nabharan-Satkhira road in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district on Monday night, died at Jessore Medical College Hospital (JMCH) on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Jiku Hossain, 28, son of late Ziad Hossain of Ulshi village of the upazila. Jiku Hossain died at the hospital at about 11:00 pm, said Jahangir Hossain, the deceased’s brother. On information, police recovered the body. Earlier, Jiku fell unconscious after taking tea at a tea stall on the Nabharan-Satkhira road in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district while he was returning home by his auto-rickshaw at about 8:30 pm on Monday, said Jiku’s brother, suspecting that he (Jiku) might have been sedated by a gang. Later, local people found him in the area at about 9:00 pm on Monday and took him to Jessore Medical College Hospital, according to a news agency.
