Sehri is more than simply a meal, it is a precious time for community, culture as well as delicious food which brings people together. As nighttime draws near, the streets of Nazirabazar are decorated with vibrant lights, and the air is filled with the tantalizing scents of barbecued fish, grilled kebabs, and aromatic biryani. Customers frequently line up well after midnight to enjoy the famous delicacies at well-known restaurants like Hanif Biryani, Haji Biriyani, Nanna biriyani, Bukhari Restaurant, Bimillah kabab, Al Razzaque Hotel, Beauty lacchi and many more.
"Every year, I along with my friends and cousins visit Nazirabazar at least once during Sehri time. The place becomes overcrowded during that time but we do not mind rather enjoy the vibes. It has become a tradition for us to visit Nazirabazar, having hanif biryani and chilled lacchi of Beauty lacchi," says Md. Sive Saqline, a CSE graduate from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, sharing his experience of after-midnight festive eating to keep daylong fast.
Brightly lighted juice bars and betel -leaf stores with multiple varieties of betel-leaf preparations add to the celebratory atmosphere and enhance the ambiance.
Mawa Ghat: Sehri admirers and food lovers go to Mawa Ghat, which is close to Dhaka, during Ramadan. Known for its fresh Hilsa fish, the place draws visitors who want to savour this treat before starting their fast. Mushfika Zahin, a 3rd--year student of Sociology in East-West University, suggests: "During Ramadan, the place gets busy, so arriving early can help you locate the perfect spot to sit and enjoy your meal. Arriving early ensures that you get the freshest choices available because the fish might sell out quickly. In this manner, you may have a quiet and fulfilling Sehri without having to worry about standing in line or skipping out on the greatest meals."
Early in the hour, a range of Hilsa meals, from classic fried dishes to more creative specialties, are available at many local eateries and food vendors in Mawa Ghat. Families and groups of friends gather to enjoy meals by a mighty river, the Padma, which creates a dynamic atmosphere that combines the beauty of nature with tasty satisfaction.
Geneva Camp: The smell of sizzling kebabs, newly prepared parathas, and steamy platters of aromatic biryani fill the little lanes of Mohammadpur Geneva Camp as the night becomes darker. Dishes like kacchi biryani, shami kebabs, and nihari, served with warm naan, are examples of the community's traditional cuisine, which are preserved by their rich Bihari ancestry. The feeling of unity remains, with laughing and conversation resonating despite the limited living arrangements and frequent difficulties.

The charms of Chawkbazar: A popular destination for foodies looking for a satisfying Sehri experience, this centuries-old bazaar is well-known for its Mughlai delicacies. Vendors put in endless hours making fresh bakarkhani in traditional clay ovens, stirring pots of shahi halim, and grilling meats.
There is something for everyone in the collection, which includes anything from fluffy parathas served with juicy kebabs and nehari to spicy mutton tehari. The lively throng, lit by lamps that flicker, contributes to the joyous ambiance. Chawkbazar's Sehri is more than simply a meal, it is a cultural event that honors Dhaka's rich past.
Star Kabab and Restaurant: Star Kabab & Restaurant Sehri is a vibrant and tasty affair that draws customers to its branches in Dhanmondi, Banani, and Paltan. One of the most well-liked restaurants in Dhaka, it serves a variety of traditional cuisine and is crowded all night long during Ramadan. Given that rumali ruti and freshly made naan are served alongside delectable curries. The air is filled with the scent of succulent kebabs, mutton paya, creamy nehari, and soft mutton-leg roast.
"Star is our go-to place for sehri. If we get confused about random sehri places, we always prefer Star. It never goes wrong. I personally like their bhuna khichuri paired with mutton-leg roast," shares Mushfika. In contrast, others choose to eat chicken roast or spicy beef curry. Many choose the traditional pairing of seekh kebabs, chicken jhal fry, vegetables and dal. Offering both heavy meals and lighter alternatives to power the fast-ahead, Star Kabab is a favored choice for sehri due to its reasonable costs, quick service and consistently good food.
Modern restaurants and buffet: Some restaurants in high-society Banani, Gulshan and Dhanmondi remain open till sehri and offer delicious sehri meals. Crowd-favourite restaurants are Pinewood Café and Kitchen, Barcode Café, Rustic Eatery, Fish n Co. Chef's Table, Hakka Dhaka. Fast -food chains such as Burger king, Herfy remain open till midnight. These restaurants serve various kinds of sehri platters and spreads. Moreover, 5-star hotels like Amari Dhaka, Hotel Renaissance, Dhaka Regency, the Westin Dhaka, Hotel Sarina etc offer A La carte/ regular menu as well as buffet.
