Selling of rice under OMS programme begins

GAIBANDHA, Sept 11 (BSS): The open market sale (OMS) has been started in seven upazilas of the district Monday as part of the government's countrywide programme of selling rice at a subsidised rate in order to keep the price of rice stable.
The price of one kg of rice has been fixed at Tk 19 and each individual will be allowed to buy a maximum of three kgs of rice, the sources said.
Under the OMS programme, a total of 176 dealers have been appointed in the district and each of them will sell 510 kgs of rice at every alternate day. Each of the dealers will draw their quota of rice from the government godown three days in a week.
Deputy Commissioner of Gaibandha Quazi Anwarul Hakim inaugurated the OMS programme at Shukhnagar sales centre as the chief guest Monday. Local Commanding Officers of the joint forces Lt Colonel M Zahidur Rahim and Police Super Saleh Mohammad Tanvir were also present on the occasion.
From Jamalpur: Selling of rice under the government's open market sale (OMS) programme has been started in the district Monday to keep the price of rice stable.
Additional District Commi-ssioner (revenue) Amar Chan Banik inaugurated the OMS programme at Shokal Bazar. District Food Controller Abdur Rezzak was also present.
Sources said, a total of 154 dealers have been appointed in the district for selling of rice under the OMS programme. Besides, one BDR-run centre was also set to sell rice under OMS programme.
Rice will be sold at the OMS centres Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, sources said.
From Gazipur adds: Selling of rice under Open Market Sale (OMS) programme began in the district Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of the district Sayed Mizanur Rahman formally inaugurated the programme on Shaheed Smrity School premises here.
A total of 99 dealers have been appointed in the district for smooth functioning of the programme, which will be lasted till Oct 11 next.
