Seminar on leather industry held

EU Switch Asia Re-Tie Bangladesh Project organised a seminar recently with a view to improving working condition, occupational health and safety of workers of the leather industry and quality of produced leather. The seminar titled 'Best Idea Award (BidA)' was held at the auditorium of Bangladesh College of Leather Engineering and Technology (BCLET) at Hazaribagh in the capital. Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leathergoods and Footwear Exporters Association (BFLLFEA) are the implementing partners of the project. UNIDO international expert Ivan Karl said, "Re-Tie Bangladesh Project has launched a programme inviting proposals to implement ideas for cleaner production and reduction of environmental hazards in the leather industry".
