Seminar on shrimp farming held in Khulna

KHULNA, Dec 9 (UNB): Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Agricultural University Tuesday arranged a seminar on 'Impact of shrimp cultivation on agriculture, environment and socio-economic condition in coastal areas' at a local hotel.
Vice-chancellor of the university Prof Dr Mohammad Abdul Mannan Akand attended as chief guest.
Talking on the occasion, the VC said agriculture formed the backbone of the rural economy and it could be divided.
He called for shunning the idea of protesting against shrimp farming and stressed the need for cultivating shrimp in a planned way.
