Seminar on Weather, Climate Forecasts

A three-day seminar on "Application of Weather and Climate Forecasts in the Socio-economic Development and Disaster Mitigation" will begin here on August 5, reports UNB.
SAARC Meteorological Research Centre (SMRC), as part of its regular activities, will hold the seminar at its seminar hall, said a press release.
The seminar will focus on how weather and climate forecasts can be applied in the socio-economic development and disaster mitigation of the SAARC member states and what are the practical implications of weather and climate forecasts in this regard.
The theme of the seminar is of special interest to all the countries in the region.
Defence Secretary Kamrul Hasan as chief guest will inaugurate the event while Brigadier General Shah M Sultanuddin Iqbal, Joint Secretary of Defence Ministry and member of Governing Board of SMRC, will be the special guest.
Delegates from SAARC member states including a number of scientists from host Bangladesh will participate in the seminar.
