Senior asstt secy killed in road mishap

FENI, Nov 29 (UNB): Two people -- a senior assistant secretary of the Shipping Ministry and his driver --were killed when a covered van rammed their private car on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway nearFazilpur Madrasah in Sadar Upazila Saturday.
The deceased were identified as senior assistant secretary Akhter Hossain (48), and his car driver Saiful Islam (30).
Witnesses said the accident occurred at about 6:30 am when a covered van from Dhaka rammed the private car coming from opposite direction, leaving car driver Saiful dead on the spot.
Police source said critically injured Akhter Hossain was rushed to the district Sadar Hospital, but he succumbed to injuries after two hours and a-half of his admission.
