Senior citizens

Tuesday, 20 May 2014

Recently we are familiar with the word senior citizens. Many are now heard speaking in favour of senior citizens. The income tax authority do some favour to senior citizens in respect of taxation. Recently I went to pay WASA bill at Pubali Bank counter at Eskaton area in the city. Having kept waiting in a queue for 30 minutes at my old age of 82 years, the bank authority informed that their network is not working. I then rushed to another bank but failed due to the same trouble.
Finally I managed to make the payment in my third attempt at another bank.  At each of the banks I had to stand in long queue with all other customers. How painstaking is this for a senior citizen! It appears that BRTC has introduced special buses for ladies; and I think senior citizens should be allowed to travel in those buses. I observed in USA that some public toilets are earmarked specially for senior citizens. In the Hatirpool branch of Sonali Bank, savings certificate transaction booth is just horrible. I wish the authorities visited this booth and saw the miseries of senior citizens seeking services there.
