Sensex ends 238 points lower

MUMBAI, Dec 8 (Economic Times): Benchmarks ended near support levels as investors booked profits in absence of any positive cues from global markets. Realty, banks and metals continued lead the decline.
Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex ended at 19696.48, down 238.16 points or 1.19 per cent. The index touched a high of 19875.51 and low of 19611.35 in today's trade.
National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed at 5906.90, down 69.65 points or 1.17 per cent. The index touched a high of 5960 and low of 5878.60 intraday.
BSE Midcap Index was down 2.21 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index slipped 3.22 per cent.
Amongst sectoral indices, BSE Realty Index was down 2.51 per cent, BSE Bankex declined 2.03 per cent lower and BSE Metal Index slipped 2.01 per cent.
Reliance Communications (-3.21 per cent), Jaiprakash Associates (-3.12 per cent), HDFC Bank (-3.07 per cent), DLF (-2.81 per cent) and Tata Steel (-2.49 per cent) were amongst the top Sensex losers.
