Sensex ends 250 points lower on profit booking

MUMBAI, Oct 7 (Economic Times): Indian markets ended sharply lower after funds-based selling activity intensified in the last one and half hour of trade. Losers pack included stocks from realty, metals and capital goods space.
Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex ended at 20315.32, down 227.76 points. It hit an intraday low of 20272.77 and high of 20581.29.
National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed at 6118, down 68.45 points or 1.11 per cent. The index touched intra-day low of 6107.50 and high of 6199.45 in today's trade.
BSE Midcap Index ended 0.74 per cent lower and BSE Smallcap Index was down 0.92 per cent.
Tata Steel (-4.42 per cent), DLF (-2.94 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure (-2.88 per cent), HDFC (-2.33 per cent) and Jaiprakash Associates (-2.32 per cent) led the Sensex decline.
Tata Power (2.45 per cent), Hero Honda (1.52 per cent), Cipla (1.33 per cent), Hindalco (0.69 per cent) and Reliance Communications (0.54 per cent) were amongst the top gainers.
Market breadth turned negative on the NSE with 1878 losers against 1372 gainers.
