Sensex trading flat

The Sensex and the Nifty were trading near flat due to profit-taking by funds and retail investors amid mixed Asian cues.  At 12.08 pm, the 30-share BSE index Sensex was trading up by 7.1 points or 0.03 per cent at 28,305.23 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was trading down by 3.7 points or 0.04 per cent at 8,584.95. Among BSE sectoral indices, oil & gas index was the star-performer and was up 1.15 per cent, followed by auto 0.61 per cent, IT 0.34 per cent and TECk 0.25 per cent. On the other hand, banking index was down 0.55 per cent, followed by realty 0.42 per cent, metal 0.17 per cent and consumer durables 0.08 per cent. Top five Sensex gainers were ONGC (+2.26%), VEDL (+2.21%), M&M (+2.,08%), Tata Motors (+1.53%) and Reliance (+0.98%), while the major losers were Coal India (-1.41%), SBIN (-1.2%), Bharti Airtel (-0.94%), Bajaj Auto (-0.74%) and ITC (-0.67%), according to a news agency.
