Sensex up over 150 points

The S&P BSE Sensex kept on building momentum in afternoon trades on Monday. The 30-pack index surged over 150 points, led by buying in banking and financial and IT stocks. Global cues were supportive and, thus, added to the positive sentiment. The 50-share Nifty index reclaimed its crucial psychological level of 8,600. The gains on the becnhmark indices were led by index heavyweights such as HDFC, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, TCS and Infosys. The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.73 per cent, while the BSE S&P Smallcap Index advanced 0.43 per cent. Overall, the market breadth was positive, with seven out of every 10 BSE stocks quoting in the green. At 1:30 pm, Sensex was 28,345, up 105 points. Nifty was 8,597, up 32 points, according to economic times.
