The Federation of Bangladesh University Teac-hers' Association (FBUTA) Sunday demanded a separate pay scale for the teachers of the country's public universities.
The federation also wants the previous warrant of precedence for the teachers of public universities to be restored and a quota to be preserved for them in course of allotting RAJUK plots.
FBUTA said salary, allowances and other facilities for the public universities' teachers were very meagre compared to those of the private universities despite the public universities making significant contributions to education and research of Bangladesh.
It is a dire need to increase salary, allowances and other facilities for the public universities' teachers to maintain the standard of education and research and attract the talented teachers and researchers, a FBUTA press release said referring to a meeting of the federation.
President of the Federation Khan-daker Bazlul Huq presided over the meeting held at the Dhaka University Teachers' Club with the federation general secretary, ABM Obaidul Islam moderating.
