Sepp Blatter to resign as FIFA president

FIFA's president, Sepp Blatter, has said he will step down as leader of football's governing body, once a new successor is found. Blatter said at a press conference on Tuesday in Zurich that an extraordinary congress would be convened to elect a successor as soon as possible. The move came just four days after the 79-year-old Swiss national was re-elected as the organisation's President at its annual congress, according to Al Jazeera.
